Lip volume treatments: questions to ask at your consultation
CNAesthetic Academy · Updated October 2026
An Australian guide to preparing for a lip volume treatment consultation — what to ask your practitioner, what to write down, and how to keep your own records.
Why preparation matters
A consultation for lip volume treatments is a conversation, not a commitment. Arriving with your questions written down helps you understand what is being discussed and leaves you with a clear record afterwards.
Questions about your practitioner
- What are your qualifications, and are you registered with AHPRA? (You can check the public register at ahpra.gov.au.)
- Who will perform the treatment, and who prescribed or authorised it?
- How long have you been providing this type of treatment?
- Who do I contact after hours if I have a concern?
Questions about the treatment discussed
- What did you discuss as possible options, including choosing no treatment?
- What are the known risks and side effects, and how common are they?
- What should I expect in the days afterwards, and what is not normal?
- What is the total cost, and are follow-up appointments included?
- Can I have written information and the consent form to read before deciding?
What to record afterwards
- Date, clinic and practitioner name
- Product name and batch details, if your practitioner gives them to you
- What was discussed, in your own words
- Aftercare instructions you were given
- Any follow-up date
Keep it in one place
Aesthetic Passport is a private place to keep your own consultation notes, photos and records, so you can share an accurate history with any practitioner you choose to see in future.
An important note
This guide is general information only. It is not medical advice and does not replace a consultation with a qualified, registered health practitioner, who will assess whether any treatment is appropriate for you. Every person is different and no particular result can be promised. You can take time to decide, ask for written information, and say no at any point.
