Aftercare diary: what to note after a cosmetic treatment

CNAesthetic Academy ยท Updated October 2026

What to write down in the days after a cosmetic or skin treatment, how to take consistent photos, and when to contact your practitioner.

Follow your practitioner's instructions

Your practitioner's written aftercare always comes first. A diary simply helps you follow it and notice anything worth raising.

What to note each day

  • Date and how many days since treatment
  • How the area looks and feels, in your own words
  • Comfort level from 1 to 10
  • Anything you did differently (exercise, sun, skincare)
  • Questions to ask at your review

Taking consistent photos

  • Same spot, same light, same time of day
  • Front and both sides, at the same distance
  • No filters or editing

When to call

Contact your practitioner or clinic promptly about anything unexpected or worrying. For severe pain, changes in vision, difficulty breathing or anything that feels like an emergency, call 000.

An important note

This guide is general information only. It is not medical advice and does not replace a consultation with a qualified, registered health practitioner, who will assess whether any treatment is appropriate for you. Every person is different and no particular result can be promised. You can take time to decide, ask for written information, and say no at any point.
